How 10year old Matilda Assabil Broke World Record In Ghana - Youngest to Ever Play in A Women’s Professional league

 


Too good to be ignored and age is never going to be a barrier for 10 year old Matilda Assabil, who mesmerised older ladies with her dribbles and deft touches. Born October 11, 2011,, in Greater Accra and still in primary six, the wonder kid broke world record last weekend debuting for Starlets Ladies in Ghana Women division one league.


Ghana's Matilda Assabil made world headlines after she reportedly featured for Starlet Ladies in the Women’s Division One League The 10-year-old girl wonder has now become the world's youngest female footballer, beating the record previously held by Olivia Moultrie of the USA who made her official debut for Portland Thorns against Racing Louisville aged 15.


The Starlets Ladies FC youngster made her debut in the Ghana Women division one league over the weekend, becoming the youngest female footballer to ever grace the field in the history of Women football, not only in Ghana, but the world over - at age 10.


Matilda was handed the starting berth by her coach and lasted the entire duration for Starlets Ladies as they thrashed Nimobi ladies by 4:2 to record their first victory of the season.




The 10-year-old midfielder reportedly made her professional debut for Starlet Ladies after signing with the club. Wearing the No. 20 jersey, Assabil has probably become the youngest player to make his senior debut in terms of first-team minutes played. 


Starlets Ladies FC plays in the Greater Accra Women Division one league and are at the bottom table with just 3points in 7games.


Matilda is a primary school student in the Tema metropolis and she dreams of becoming one of the best female footballers the nation has ever produced.
