FCAAN Trains 15 Grassroots Coaches in Lagos Nigeria

 


In a bid to prepare Nigerian grassroots football coaches for future challenges, Football Coaches Association Of Africa Nations FCAAN had successfully trained 15 football coaches in Lagos.


During the six days residential training course, four instructors were in attendance to drill the participants on the rudiments of the coaching profession and game itself.


Technical Director of Ijebu United, Akeem Busari spoke on the method of coaching, the purpose of the game according to FIFA, physiology of exercise and nutrition, principle of defence and system of training.


While Technical Director of Dannaz, Fatai Smith Akande also talked on Squad building, observing training session, coaching intervention, principle of attack and system of play.


Other two instructors coach crystal and FIFA retired, Chukwunjeku spoke on laws of the game.


Some of the coaches who attended the training expressed satisfaction with the instructors delivered the lectures noted that the FCAAN six days training was quite revealing and educative.


Coach Emmanuel Peters of Zeus Academy of Ilorin confessed that he had learned a lot that would teach his players when he returns to Ilorin saying that all the instructors lived up to expectations in their various topics.


While coach David Peters admitted that the training programme had captured things coaches needed to know in the profession.


One of the instructors, Akande who doubles as national coordinator and head of Protocol department FCAAN Nigeria said the training course was designed for football coaches who are practitioners and needed new ideas to add to their coaching techniques.


“This is continuous exercise and a lot of coaches have benefitted from this programme and the reason for this programme is to educate, enlighten and inform the coaches the latest methodology of the coaching and also to know the latest development about the laws of the game,”he concluded.


Meanwhile the participating coaches also had the opportunity to watch Dannaz against Lekki United in a friendly match that ended 2-1 in favour of Dannaz who won that last Lagos FA Cup.
