Did Argentina's Victory in the 2022 World Cup Put An End to GOAT Debate?

I have a friend who says Ronaldinho is the greatest footballer ever. Even if Messi won two world cups or scores 1500 goals by the end of his career, you can’t convince him. I have another neighbor who says Maradona and Kaka are the most technical players, he won’t be convinced either.

I think you got the point. The debate of G.O.A.T is a never ending discussion. Mbappe is being added to this list now claiming at 23, he achieved more than Messi at that age. There will be another one after Mbappe. You can’t really compare the best player of one generation with the best of another. It’s really tough. Maradona has much lesser goal contribution in his club and country career, that doesn’t mean he is not the best. Messi today is admired and loved by millions of people around the world and so he is being claimed as the best ever. I personally think Messi is the best too but the person next to me laughs and says that Cristiano is way better, won consecutive UCL finals and has proved playing with Stoke city on a rainy night. The debate will go on and on and will never conclude.

Argentina’s World Cup victory has cemented Messi’s place to be in the G.O.A.T debate for generations to come but the debate will never end. I will just say, for now all I can think of is Messi has proved in every possible way that he is the best and I am happy with it and don’t really care anymore if he retires tomorrow. The below pictures is all he cared for and us as his fans, rest we will leave upto historians to decide.
