As at today, football money is not in Nigeria. You cannot make much money playing for Nigerian clubs. Football money is in Europe! You could also make money playing in Asia, America and in North Africa.
In Nigeria, the highest you can get is N2 Million sign-on fee, monthly salary of N200, 000 and bonus of N20,000 per match. It is quiet some money, don’t you think so.
The sad thing however, is the money remains on paper. The clubs hardly pay nor fulfill their part of the contract.
In Europe, an average player could be paid $500,000 equivalent of N75 Million sign-on fee and the contract is fulfilled as signed.
The challenge is, European football has been highly monetized and only top quality players could get a contract. In some places like England, there are other conditions. You must have played 75% of your national team games before you could be given a work permit.
Football opportunities are more open in Asia, America and North Africa. A rising star could be paid an average of $70,000 or more, an equivalent of N11.2M sign-on fee.
